About Us
At Southwest Prevention, we strive to be proactive in promoting healthy lifestyles, reducing and eliminating drug use and other risk factors that lead to anti-social behaviors, and following evidence-based practices to engage community leaders, organizations and agencies in uniting their prevention efforts.

We focus on skill building for individuals, families, institutions, and organizations. Our services are aimed to impact the general public as well as businesses, religious organizations, health agencies, police departments, school districts, and others, regarding such relevant issues as alcohol and drugs, suicide prevention, parenting skills, stress reduction techniques, self-esteem building and other life skills.
|
Prevention services are provided by licensed prevention specialists and other staff who work in each of the five counties of Southwestern Utah (Beaver, Garfield, Kane, Iron & Washington). We follow the Strategic Prevention Framework to create and track community change. Southwest Prevention is a Department of Southwest Behavioral Health Center, (a state-designated Local Substance Abuse Authority.)

Prevention Highlight – Community CoalitionsOur goal is to help communities implement practices and strategies that will make them safer and healthier. We rely on scientifically proven, evidence-based strategies to do this, including the Strategic Prevention Framework. One of the most effective ways for communities to identify needs and implement proven strategies is through the establishment of a community prevention coalition.
