The Student Athlete Prevention Program (SAPP) was created by the Southwest Behavioral Health Center, (in partnership with Intermountain Sports Medicine & Performance), to provide student athletes with evidence-based information about the impact substance use and mental illness can have on sports performance.
The program is designed to be given through short discussions between coaches and student athletes, where coaches share research on the impact that substance use has on athletic ability, and facilitate a quick conversation with student athletes about this topic. A "playbook" has been developed with simple research facts, and discussion questions coaches can use to discuss the topics. |
