I graduated from Idaho State University in Social Work. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of demographics, but when I started working with at risk teenagers, I was hooked. I love their energy and excitement. I have spent the past several years working with teens in rehabilitation facilities, facilitating self help seminars for teens and their parents and working as an advocate at our local teen homeless shelter. I am also a fierce advocate for the LGBTQ population. Watching my son struggle for 20 years with his sexuality, having suicidal ideations at times and attending funerals of his friends who did take their lives, has been an education all in itself.

I was born and raised in the Seattle Washington area and then moved to a tiny town in Idaho as a teenager. I graduated from college and lived in Idaho for a few years and then moved to St. George 20 years ago. At the southern rate/route I'm going, I'll probably end up in Mexico in a few years! I have loved St. George, its a great place to raise a family.

Why I chose prevention:
I have been very fortunate that the supervisor from my previous job was hired to work at Southwest Behavioral Health Center with the prevention team, and then recommended me. I am impressed with the passion and commitment my co-workers have and for the continued opportunity for professional learning and growth.
