Personal:
My name is Sarah Penner and I'm originally from Layton, Utah and have lived there nearly all my life--apart from some brief stints in Europe. Upon graduation from High School, I began my education at Southern Utah University, originally studying Theatre Arts. My interest in Psychology was formed as a result from my personal mental health journey and observing my loved ones struggling with mental illness. Once I realized that I could do something to help other people improve their quality of life through mental health support, I changed my major to Psychology without ever having taken a Psych class before, and I haven't looked back.

Why I chose prevention:
I was drawn to Prevention first because I needed a job in the field of Psychology in order to get into Graduate School. As I have learned more about Prevention, however, I feel extremely connected to its purpose and the way it can spare communities and individuals from so much suffering. I feel I can really make a difference in other people’s lives through Prevention work, and I'm so excited to see where this path takes me.
