Why I chose prevention:
Throughout my life, I have struggled with mental health issues and I always knew that I wanted to work helping others with these same struggles. Logan Reid was the professor for one of my sociology classes and I asked if he was looking for interns at SBHC and then I applied and I worked as an intern for the Summer and the Fall semester of 2021. Eventually, I got asked to work part time and I gladly accepted! My role at SBHC is I teach life skills through a program called Overcoming Obstacles to third through fifth graders at Legacy and Heritage Elementary Schools. I also am a part of the REACH4HOPE Suicide Prevention Coalition and I run the social media pages for this. I love working at SBHC for many reasons. My coworkers are very welcoming to me and I have learned a lot from being on this team. I cannot wait for my future at Southwest Behaviroal Health Center!
