Personal:
Hello, my name is Teresa, otherwise known as the neighborhood popsicle lady. I grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah, a small town at the base of Mount Timpanogas. I am the second oldest of eleven children, (nine brothers and one sister). I graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and attended Utah Technical College (currently Utah Valley University). I moved to Washington County in 1987 and fell in love with the area. I think it is one of the most beautiful places on earth, both because of the surroundings and the amazing people that live here. I am honored to be the mom to three amazing kids (who are no longer kids) and a little rescue pup named Tucker. My primary goal in life was to be a stay-at-home mom, which I believe is the most amazing job in the world, but life happens and circumstances led me to the second most amazing job in the world as a Prevention Specialist
Why I chose prevention:
I believe that this profession chose me and it has been a remarkable fit. Prior to entering the workforce, I spent many hours volunteering with a variety of organizations that serve and advocate for youth and families in my community. These experiences prepared me for the work I currently do and am so passionate about. During my years in prevention, I have been blessed to rub shoulders with some of the most amazing people in this community and across the state. I have been honored to work with diverse populations and I have developed a great deal of love and understanding for culturally diverse communities. I have experienced triumphs and challenges and I can honestly say I am grateful for both because of the personal and professional growth that followed. I learned very quickly that prevention is not just a job, it is a lifestyle. As a prevention Specialist, I live this work because I want to be an agent for change in my community. I truly believe that prevention works and I am privileged to play a small role in creating a safer, healthier environment where youth and families can thrive.
